Living in Australia, we were on the hunt for an engagement ring from a specific designer (Kirk Kara). At that time, Ben Garelick was one of just two authorized sellers, since the brand isn’t sold in Australia at all. Making a big purchase like jewelry online, especially from another country, isn’t a walk in the park. You worry about quality, potential scams, and the fact that you can’t physically inspect the item makes it a real leap of faith. But let me tell you, our experience was fantastic, and I’d recommend this business to anyone, no matter where they are. We handled everything via email, and they were super accommodating. From figuring out the ring size to how it should feel when worn, and even getting a discount code for checkout, it was just a lovely, reassuring experience. We’d definitely buy from them again. Just a heads up for fellow Aussies: the Government held our ring in customs until we filled out a declaration about its cost and paid the import duties and GST on the whole purchase, including shipping! LOL, it’s a bit silly. So, if you’re thinking of heading to the US, it might be smarter to buy it while you’re there and have it sent to your hotel. And for sure, don’t declare it when you come back! Otherwise, plan for about 12% extra (just to be safe) on top of the online price after converting to AUD.
